I'm Frances, a Psychotherapist in Advanced Training.
I offer weekly appointments to support individuals in-person or online.

Why Psychotherapy?
Starting psychotherapy can feel like a real challenge. It takes tremendous courage to open up about the things that are troubling you and holding you back. Some people tell themeslves their problems don't count. Others have learnt to hide their feelings to get by. And some people worry about being judged if they speak honestly and vulnerably. That is ok. I provide a space in which you can safely explore and work through these things and I will be an active and understanding presence alongside you.
Therapy offers the opportunity to:
-
Feel heard
-
Experience a relationship where you are welcome to bring all facets of yourself
-
Heal and grow from painful experiences
-
Recognise patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviour that cause you to feel stuck
-
Think more clearly and kindly about yourself, including the parts of yourself that you may have pushed away because of what others have expected of you
-
Know who you are, not just who you've been told you should be
-
Feel empowered to make decisions about your life and how you want to live it.
You might decide to contact me if you are:
-
Struggling with confidence and self-esteem, or think and feel badly about yourself
-
Feeling lonely, empty, lost, disconnected, flat or depressed
-
Experiencing difficulties in relationships with partners, family members or friends
-
Overwhelmed by strong emotions or recurrent, anxious thoughts
-
Suffering following a traumatic experience
This list is not exhaustive. While some people know exactly why they are seeking therapy, others may struggle to define it. It is ok if you don’t know where to start, we will get there at your pace.
About Me
At a young age I developed a keen interest into the way our sense of self is formed. I explored this through drawing and painting, often creating portraits depicting a self troubled by both inner and external forces, or artworks that asked questions or made observations about human nature: how we come to be the way we are and do the things we do. Eventually, I decided that having these kinds of conversations with other people – and listening to their stories – was the right path for me, and so I chose to train as a psychotherapist. But psychotherapy is about more than listening to people's stories. It is also about helping them make sense of what troubles them, and repairing or recovering what can often feel broken, uncomfortable or missing inside and outside of themselves.

How I Work
I chose to train in a relational-developmental approach, inspired by the personal knowledge that relationships – good relationships – can be transformative and healing.
I am interested in how your relationships, particularly your early relationships, have shaped how you make sense of the world. You might have learnt particular ways of being that cause you to feel stuck or 'not right'. A relational-developmental approach will help you identify these patterns and heal and grow from painful experiences. In time, you might use our sessions to explore new ways of being.
I believe that change is made possible through a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship. Just as we evolve in our early relationships, we can change and grow with the help of current ones. So I do my best to make a space where you can feel heard and known in all aspects of yourself. Relational-developmental psychotherapy is a powerful way to understand how you relate to others and to yourself and to use that knowledge effectively to recognise patterns that both inhibit and support you.
Ensuring a safe and supportive space for people from all walks of life is central to my way of working and personal philosophy. I am committed to trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirmative practices.
Training and Professional Memberships
I have recently completed an advanced four-year postgraduate training program in Relational Integrative Psychotherapy and am working towards accreditation.
My training and membership are with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). UKCP are the leading organisation for psychotherapists in the UK. I adhere to their code of ethics and undergo their high standards of training and practice.
I hold full professional liability insurance and attend regular clinical supervision to ensure that I am equipped to support my clients in the most ethical and meaningful ways.
