I'm Frances, a Psychotherapist in Advanced Training.
I offer weekly appointments to support individuals in-person or online.

Why Psychotherapy?
Starting psychotherapy can feel like a real challenge. It can be hard to muster up the courage and energy to open up to someone new. Some people tell themselves their problems don't count. Others have learnt from a young age to hide their feelings to get by. And some people worry about being judged if they speak honestly and vulnerably. I understand that.
Whatever you are feeling and going through, I really welcome you. My hope is that you will find me to be warm and compassionate, and that we will build a therapeutic relationship that will help you to explore the hurts and challenges that have brought you to seek therapy, with a view to better understanding their origins, paving the way for the changes you need to live your life in more satisfying and full ways.
Therapy offers the opportunity to:
-
Feel heard
-
Experience a relationship where you are welcome to bring all facets of yourself
-
Make sense of and work through challenging feelings and experiences
-
Welcome emotions
-
Recognise patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviour
-
Explore the places where you feel stuck with yourself and others
-
Think more clearly and kindly about yourself
-
Strengthen your sense of self
-
Feel more at home in yourself and in your relationships with others
You might decide to contact me if you are:
-
Struggling with confidence and self-esteem, or think and feel badly about yourself
-
Feeling lonely, empty, lost, disconnected, flat or depressed
-
Experiencing difficulties in relationships with partners, family members or friends
-
Preoccupied by memories or feelings about childhood
-
Overwhelmed by strong emotions or recurrent, anxious thoughts
-
Suffering following a challenging or traumatic experience or loss
This list is not exhaustive. While some people know exactly why they are seeking therapy, others may struggle to define why. Either way, that's ok. We will get there at your pace.
About Me & The Ways I work
At a young age I developed a keen interest into the way our sense of self is formed. I explored this through drawing and painting, often creating portraits depicting a self troubled by both inner and external forces, or artworks that asked questions or made observations about human nature: how we come to be the way we are and do the things we do. Eventually, I decided that having these kinds of conversations with other people – and listening to their stories – was the right path for me, and so I chose to train as a psychotherapist. But psychotherapy is about more than listening to people's stories. It is also about helping them make sense of what troubles them, and repairing or recovering what can often feel broken, uncomfortable or missing inside and outside of themselves.

I chose to train in Relational Integrative Psychotherapy, inspired by the personal knowledge that relationships – good relationships – can be transformative and healing.
What does integrative mean?
This means that I combine (integrate) multiple complementary theories to inform the work I do, which allows me to tailor my approach to your needs as an individual. I am particularly interested in how our past shapes our present. Many of us learnt particular ways of being in the world when we were young which no longer serve us in our adult lives. In therapy, I might invite you to consider the influence of your past experiences on your present struggles and ways of coping. In time, you might use our sessions to explore new ways of being.
What does relational mean?
I believe that change is made possible through a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship. Just as we evolve in our early relationships, we can change and grow with the help of current ones. So I do my best to make a space where you can feel heard and known in all aspects of yourself. My aim is to be alongside you as you discover your preferred path in life.
